one word to describe it. AWESOME!
from dancing, songs, musics, martial arts, all were performed gracefully. excitement filled the air of Mansion House, Dawson Street for more than 5 hours, started at 7pm till midnight.
the so called International Night 2008 was brought by RCSI as the annual event. the ball room was packed with students, lecturers and parents...all were there with one intention: to enjoy the performances from 5 nations: Canada, Malaysia, India, Carribean African and Ireland.
so who performed best? well, the main objective of this event is not to compare which country did the most wow performances.
the malaysians made us proud ( well, segerombolan tau dtg tok bg support hehe) when they did it very well...it was started with martial art and dancing performance to represent the Chinese, then followed by "tarian zapin" to represent the Malay and last but not least, traditional Indian dance to represent the Indian. but lastly, we were all known as MALAYSIANs, not indians from malaysia etc.
canadian chose to differ by performing a kinda different thing. they introduced their country through musical drama. and it all changed the conservative perceptions that most of us had previously. well, canada is full of stupid politicians ( as the actor said haha) and there is a place where the women are legally allowed to be topless! so guys, book ur ticket to canada now :p
one more thing that was so interesting is that there is a place ( again i forgot the name) the population density is 2 people/km2! so can u imagine, how lonesome the people living there? but it's good though in terms of preventing a disease that is commonly spread via contacts in packed places hehe
Irish, more or less like last year performances, they had our ears and eyes on their celtic music performances and "shona" ( i beg ur pardon if i mistakenly spelled it wrong :p). the shona was performed by two beautiful young ladyies with "wow" voice! the songs were both about love but guess what? in the end, both girls in the love story died..oo so sad! i guess irish love this kinda story huhu~
CAS and Indian team were not bad at all! dancing and cultural instrumental performances, all made us forget a lil while about the coming big exam next month haih~ well, it was worth 8 euro ticket hehe
one thing i can observe is that, regardless of the nationality, the performers can be in any nation team and gave their full commitment! they can even master the language of the country that they were performing for. no matter what colour u r, what language u speak, what country u r from, all are ready to give out the very best of themselves!
it was all fun after all~
